Pressure Printing on the Vandercook
March 30: 12 - 6
This one day workshop on the Vandercook press will explore the use of pressure printing and layering to create imagery for a broadside. Pressure printing is a relief technique that uses low relief collage and stencils directly on the press. The results are prints with rich, painterly, spontaneous layers and textures. This low-tech process allows you to create layered, multi-colored backgrounds and imagery.
Discussion and demos will focus on the effects of various materials and textures on this alternative letterpress printing process and color theory.
No printing experience required. This class is suitable for anyone from beginners hoping to dip their toes in, to experienced printers looking to expand their knowledge and play with pattern
